| Please note: | Since March 2015, there has been a strict access rule of five people per week. Therefore, we cannot offer a visit of the cave.
We will visit the Museum, which is close to the cave, where there is a replica of the prehistoric cave. |

| Access: | From Ramales de la Victoria it is necessary to take Santillana del Mar in Cantabria, west of Santander. |
| Description: | It is renowned for prehistoric parietal cave art featuring charcoal drawings and polychrome paintings of contemporary local fauna and human hands. They earliest paintings were made 36,000 years ago. The artists used charcoal and ochre or hematite to create the images, often diluting these pigments to produce variations in intensity and creating an impression of chiaroscuro. They also exploited the natural contours of the cave walls to give their subjects a three-dimensional effect. |
